Kellie: Top 25 Czech Questions You Need to Know - Lesson 15: Do you have a cell phone? in Czech (In each lesson of this 25 part series, you'll master a common question for Czech learners, and then learn how to answer it like a native. In this lesson, you'll learn how to respond to the common question “Do you have a cell phone?” In Czech this is
Martin: Máš mobilní telefon?
The first word in the question is
Martin: máš
Kellie: meaning “you have” in English.
Martin: (Slow, by syllable) máš
Kellie: Listen again and repeat.
Martin: máš
{Pause}
Kellie: This pattern of first introducing a word at natural speed, providing the translation, breaking it down, and then giving it again at natural speed will be repeated throughout the series. Try to speak aloud as often as possible. The next word in the question is
Martin: mobilní
Kellie: meaning “mobile.”
Martin: (Slow, by syllable) mobilní
Kellie: Now repeat.

Kellie: Now repeat
Martin: ano

Kellie: meaning “I have.”
Martin: (Slow, by syllable) mám
Kellie:Now repeat.
Martin: mám

Kellie: And after that
Martin: iPhone
Kellie: which is the word “iPhone.”

Kellie: To expand on the pattern, replace Android with new one.

Kellie: new one
Martin: (slow) nový (regular) nový
Kellie: Listen to the phrase again, this time with new one
Martin: Ano, mám nový.
Kellie: It mostly stays the same. Simply replace Android. Say “Yes, I have a new one.”

Martin: Ano, mám nový.
To say "no", in a simple way, just say:
Martin: Ne, nemám.
Kellie: Which is like saying “No, I don’t”. in English. Let's hear it slowly.
Martin: (Slowly) Ne, nemám
Kellie: And one more time at normal speed:
Martin: Ne, nemám
Now it's time for a quiz. Imagine you are visiting the Czech Republic and someone asks you if you have a cell phone. You have an iPhone. Respond to the question.
Martin: Máš mobilní telefon? (five seconds) Ano, mám iPhone.
Kellie: Now imagine you have a smartphone. Respond to the question.
Martin: Máš mobilní telefon? (five seconds) Ano, mám chytrý telefon.
Kellie: Now imagine you have a Android. Answer the speaker's question.
Martin: Máš mobilní telefon? (five seconds) Ano, mám Android.
Kellie: Now imagine you have a new one. Respond to the question.
Martin: Máš mobilní telefon? (five seconds) Ano, mám nový.
Kellie: You want to ask that person if they have a cell phone. Ask the question
