Kellie: Top 25 Czech Questions You Need to Know - Lesson 10: How is the Czech food? (In each lesson of this 25 part series, you'll master a common question for Czech learners, and then learn how to answer it like a native. You'll learn how these key phrases work by breaking them down into each component. Then through repetition and new vocabulary, you'll expand your understanding of the question, its answers, and any variations.)
In this lesson, you'll learn how to respond to the common question How is it? when talking about food. In Czech this is
Martin: Jaké to je?
The first word in the question is
Martin: jaké
Kellie: meaning “how” in English.
Martin: (Slow, by syllable) jaké
Kellie: Listen again and repeat.
Martin: jaké
{Pause}
Kellie: This pattern of first introducing a word at natural speed, providing the translation, breaking it down, and then giving it again at natural speed will be repeated throughout the series. Try to speak aloud as often as possible. The next word in the question is

Kellie: meaning “it”.
Martin: (Slow, by syllable) to
Kellie: Now repeat.

Kellie: you want to say it's sweet. Answer the speaker's question.

Kellie: You want to say it's fresh. Respond to the question.
Martin: Jaké to je? (five seconds) Je to čerstvé.
Kellie: Now you want to know what -that- person thinks of the meal. Ask the question
