Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to comment on a joke. After watching this video, you’ll be able to compliment or criticize anyone on their sense of humor.
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
Proč je učebnice matematiky smutná? Protože řeší spoustu problémů.
Haha, jsi tak vtipný!
Once more with the English translation.
Proč je učebnice matematiky smutná? Protože řeší spoustu problémů.
“Why is the math book sad? Because it has so many problems.”
Haha, jsi tak vtipný!
“Haha, you're so funny!”
First of all, let’s listen to the joke again “Why is the math book sad? Because it has so many problems.”
That's: Proč je učebnice matematiky smutná? Protože řeší spoustu problémů.
Listen to it again: Proč je učebnice matematiky smutná? Protože řeší spoustu problémů., Proč je učebnice matematiky smutná? Protože řeší spoustu problémů.
“Why is the math book sad? Because it has so many problems.”
Now, how do you react to a joke? First, you’ll need to learn how to say “haha” . That’s haha, haha
Then, you’ll need to learn how to say “You're so [adjective].” The pattern is:
Jsi tak [adjective].
“You're so [adjective].”
This Czech sentence literally translates as “Are so [adjective].” But it means “You're so [adjective].”.
For example:
“Haha, you're so funny!”
Haha, jsi tak vtipný!, Haha, jsi tak vtipný!
