Jennifer: Welcome to 3-Minute Czech Season 1, Lesson 8 - Talking About Your Age. In this lesson, you’ll learn how to ask someone's age and to say yours in Czech.

Jennifer: Here's the informal way to ask 'How old are you?' in Czech.
Martin: [Normal] Kolik ti je roků?
Jennifer: First is a word meaning 'how'
Martin: [Normal] kolik [Slow] kolik
Jennifer: Next is the word meaning 'you'
Martin: [Normal] ti [Slow] ti
Jennifer: Next is the word meaning 'are'
Martin: [Normal] je [Slow] je
Jennifer: Last is the word meaning 'years'
Martin: [Normal] roků [Slow] roků
Jennifer: Note the rising intonation. Listen again to the informal question meaning 'How old are you?'
Martin: [Slow] Kolik ti je roků? [Normal] Kolik ti je roků?
Jennifer: Now, imagine you're speaking to a stranger. Here's the formal way to ask, 'How old are you?'
